ABOUT THE ARTIST

Christy Karacas (b. 1975, New Hampshire, US) is an American artist, filmmaker, and musician best known for creating the cult hit and highly influential animated TV show SUPERJAIL!. Emerging from the vibrant Providence, RI art scene in the early 2000s, Karacas gained recognition for his hand-drawn animations like SPACE WAR and BARFIGHT. He also achieved commercial success with projects such as BALLMASTRZ:9009, BALLMASTRZ: RUBICON, and music videos for bands like MGMT, Royal Blood, and Les Savy Fav.

Karacas's work blends his background as animator and performer, creating static images that capture the dynamic energy of live experience. Each piece invites viewers to immerse themselves in a moment where time stands still, yet the energy remains. His art has been featured at major festivals and venues, including the Annecy International Animation Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and Cartoon Network. He lives and works in Providence, RI where he received his B.F.A. at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and now also enjoys teaching.
