ABOUT THE ARTIST
Oki Izumi (b. 1956, Tokyo, Japan) graduated in ancient Japanese literature from Waseda University before studying painting and sculpture under Aiko Miyawaki, Taku Iwasaki, and Yoshishige Saito. She received a scholarship for sculpture from the Italian Government in 1977 and completed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in 1981 under Giancarlo Marchese.
Izumi has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group shows in Italy, Japan, and beyond, including notable events such as the Venice Biennale (1985 and 1986), the Milan Triennale (1983), and the Museum of Modern Art of Hokkaido (1991). Her work has also been featured at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome (1992), the Japanese Institute of Culture in Rome (1997), and at exhibitions like "Stratifications" at the Museum of Santa Giulia in 2014. She has collaborated with Paola Levi Montalcini and Iko Itsuki Damiani and her works are part of the Vatican's private collection. Izumi currently lives and works in Milan.
