ABOUT THE ARTIST
Wang Yigang (b. 1962, Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province) began his career in the early 1980s. His initial artistic studies were influenced by Cubism and Futurism. In 1985, he won the National Youth Art Prize at the National Youth Art Exhibition. Following the acquisition of an oil painting certificate from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1986, he was assigned to the Shenyang Normal Institute and worked as a specially appointed researcher at the Chinese National Academy of Art.
Throughout his 25-year career, Wang Viang has demonstrated stylistic pluralism, ranging from figurative expressionism to abstraction and pop art. His works have been exhibited globally, including in China (Beijing, Shenyang, Shanghai), Japan, Singapore, Russia, the United States, Spain, and Germany. He is currently a curator and professor at the Luxun Art Gallery.
